Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Brendan Mullen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and billy joyce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
joyce fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
joyce misses with a series of wild punches.
joyce swats away the attempt to clinch by Mullen.
Mullen tries to clinch but joyce moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mullen rushes joyce and presses him up against the cage.

joyce breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mullen shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. joyce defends it nicely.
joyce misses with a two punch combination.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
joyce drops his hands momentarily and Mullen takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Mullen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Mullen tries to free his leg and advance position but joyce is retaining full guard.

Mullen postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! joyce is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mullen, into his guard.

Mullen has his foot on joyce's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. joyce works his way back into a safe position though.

Mullen is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and joyce defends well.

Mullen had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. joyce defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mullen manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Mullen looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Mullen goes for an armbar but joyce turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from joyce.
joyce trying to stand up but can't free himself from Mullen's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mullen is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and joyce defends well.
Mullen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Mullen throws his legs up looking for a submission but joyce uses it to pass to side control.

Mullen manages to work his way to half guard, despite joyce's best efforts.
Mullen trying to hold on to joyce's head to control him but joyce postures up.

joyce lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mullen circles away quickly and effectively.

so Mullen counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Mullen drops back looking for a leg! joyce is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and joyce manages to kick Mullen off! Mullen jumps back into joyce's guard.
Mullen looking to sit in guard and control but joyce gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

joyce got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mullen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, joyce has managed to get both his arms back between Mullen's legs - danger averted.

Mullen is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

joyce gets to his feet - Mullen follows without any prompting.

joyce throws a head kick that misses.

joyce moves into range and clinches up with Mullen.
Mullen tries to pull guard but joyce won't allow it.
Mullen prevents joyce from breaking the clinch.
joyce tries to break free but Mullen pushes him back against the cage.

Mullen gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Mullen is pushing down on joyce's leg trying to pass to half guard. joyce is fighting to maintain full guard but Mullen has managed to sneak the leg through.
joyce is breathing heavily.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mullen is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and joyce defends it well.

Mullen is trying to work for a kimura but joyce is defending well.

Mullen is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Mullen maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! joyce could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Mullen has cracked it and joyce is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Mullen!
