PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Royce Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fuq Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones has chosen let the bodies hit the floor as his entrance music. Fuq Jones told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lee as he jumps to the side.
Lee misses with a straight right.
Jones takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Lee tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jones paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jones ducks under a wild hook from Lee.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but Lee shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Royce Lee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fuq Jones.
Jones takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Lee moves into range and clinches up with Jones.
Jones is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Lee gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Lee tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jones just stands there and leans against the cage.

Lee gets control of Jones's arms and successfully pulls guard. Lee will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Lee fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jones manages to avoid it.

Jones tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lee sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jones somewhat.
Lee throws a right and a left that Jones avoids nicely.

Lee shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Lee showed some decent athleticism there.

Lee lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Lee tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Jones.

Lee looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jones with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Lee seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jones does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Jones had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Lee defends it easily.

Jones has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lee can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Royce Lee overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
