PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eric Fields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddie Kingston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kingston has chosen T.I. - What You Know? as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eric Fields!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eddie Kingston!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Anthony Taglia and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kingston shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kingston showed some decent athleticism there.
Fields trying to control but Kingston postures up.
Kingston not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Kingston sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Fields defending well though.
Kingston not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kingston throws a strike but Fields avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Kingston slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Kingston should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Kingston lands a few punches from side control.
Sloppy strikes there by Kingston.
Kingston throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Kingston throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Fields works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Kingston wants to free his trapped foot but Fields is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kingston looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Fields with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fields works his way to full guard. Good work.
Fields is breathing heavily.
Kingston trying to move into half guard but instead Fields has managed to sweep!
Kingston manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Fields avoids a series of strikes thrown by Kingston.
The referee warns Fields that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Kingston scoring with strikes but Fields is staying in there.
Kingston throws a sloppy strike and Fields uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and Fields has ended up in Kingston's guard.
Kingston is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Fields keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Kingston lands strikes from half guard.
Ground and pound from Kingston.
Kingston throwing shots but Fields is blocking nicely.
Fields is trying to stand up here but Kingston is controlling him well.
Kingston lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Kingston looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Kingston takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Fields regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Kingston.
Kingston is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Kingston tries to free his leg and advance position but Fields is retaining full guard.

Kingston drops back, looking for a kneebar! Fields looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Fields looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Fields!
Kingston tries to buck Fields off but Fields is having none of it.
Fields wants to control but Kingston is keeping him busy.
Kingston tries to improve position but can't.
Kingston is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Fields is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Kingston's shoulder. That is not cool.
Fields is looking to take a break and control but Kingston is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kingston manages to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kingston tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Kingston tries to roll over but Fields keeps him under control.

Kingston is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Fields pulls his head out easily.

Fields stands up out of the half guard.

Kingston scores a takedown into full mount!
Kingston is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Kingston lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.


Fields is rocked!


Eric Fields's cut is getting worse.

Kingston swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Fields is now in Kingston's guard. A big mistake from Kingston there, giving up the dominant position!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kingston wants to sweep here but Fields controlling him for the moment.
Fields wants to control from the top but Kingston keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eddie Kingston dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Eric Fields's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


A nice inside leg kick there by Fields. That's going to slow Kingston down.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Kingston's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Kingston duly obliges.
Kingston looks for a takedown but Fields sprawls well.

Fields has taken the fight to the clinch.
Fields is pressed up against the cage. Kingston has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Fields down to the mat. Fields avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Fields feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Kingston's calf.
Fields lands with a kick to the ribs.
Kingston throws a head kick but Fields moves out of range.
Fields misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kingston.
Kingston checks the leg kick nicely there.
Kingston misses with a takedown attempt - Fields sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Eric Fields has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eddie Kingston.

Fields closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Fields decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Kingston shoots in and bounces Fields off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Kingston has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kingston distracts Fields with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Fields is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kingston is controlling him.
Kingston is pushing down on Fields's leg trying to pass to half guard. Fields is fighting to maintain full guard but Kingston has managed to sneak the leg through.

Eric Fields's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Jeez, Eric Fields's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Eric Fields's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
