PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zhang Zhu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bielak Bielak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Zhang Zhu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bielak Bielak!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Roberts and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zhu takes the fight into the clinch.
Zhu is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Bielak pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Bielak shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Zhu manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Bielak stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Zhu swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bielak thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Zhu dives in and grabs Bielak's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bielak pushes down on Zhu's head and hops out.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Bielak throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Zhu blocks it with crossed arms.

Bielak is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bielak is on top in guard.
Bielak has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bielak is keen to just control but Zhu is a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bielak looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Zhu displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bielak.
Zhu shoots in looking for a takedown. Bielak tries to sprawl out of it but Zhu keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bielak manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Zhu avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Bielak.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The ground and pound from Bielak seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Bielak thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Zhu goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Zhang Zhu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bielak Bielak.

Zhu stands and steps away. Bielak gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Zhu changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bielak looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Zhu throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

You can see the frustration on Bielak's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
