The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Member is defended easily by Jesse.
Jesse delivers a nice body kick.
Member doesn't manage to clinch there - Jesse circles away.

Member seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jesse for as long as he can get away with.
Member's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Member has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

and Jesse decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Member's guard.

The referee asks Jesse politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Jesse prefers to stall for the moment though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Jesse jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Member walks away with a smile on his face. Jesse gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
