PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rolando Garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Brandon Stone was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rolando Garcia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brandon Stone!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Joseph Jones and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Garcia looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Stone!
Stone is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Garcia prevents Stone from getting the reversal.
Garcia sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Garcia looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Stone tries to hold on but Garcia postures up.

Garcia is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Garcia wants to control but Stone is keeping busy.

Stone is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Garcia gets his way!

Stone is having to fend off submission attempts from Garcia, who is looking to sink in the choke. Garcia doesn't have the hooks in though and Stone manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.

Stone gets to his feet. Garcia looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Stone swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Garcia shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Garcia was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Stone sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Stone has one foot on Garcia's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Stone fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Garcia sprawls well initially but Stone persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Garcia is breathing heavily.
Stone throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Stone thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Stone trying to control the action but Garcia is working from the bottom.

Stone is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Garcia doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Stone.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Stone forces Garcia back against the cage and clinches.

Come on Stone - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Garcia can't get the takedown.

Stone ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Stone no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Garcia wants to control from the top but Stone keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Garcia drops back, looking for a kneebar! Stone looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Stone looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Stone!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Stone creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Garcia sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Stone misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Stone tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Stone has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Stone has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Garcia tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Stone presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Stone unloads with some shots from mount but Garcia bucks and avoids them well.
Stone sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Garcia is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Stone misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Garcia is working to get back to half guard.

Stone has control of Garcia's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Garcia regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Stone looking to control and managing it successfully.
Garcia is looking to improve his position but Stone isn't that keen on the idea.
Stone throwing strikes here but Garcia is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Stone throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Garcia closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Stone to the mat! Stone manages to get full guard.
Garcia prevents Stone from getting back to his feet.

Stone is looking for a triangle but Garcia pushes his legs off easily.
Garcia wants to pass the guard but Stone is keeping the position.

Garcia controls Stone momentarily but Stone frees himself.
Garcia utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Garcia is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Garcia not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Stone sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Garcia wants to sweep here but Stone controlling him for the moment.

Stone avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Stone gets to his feet. Garcia looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Stone looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Stone shoots for a double leg takedown but Garcia sprawls well. He's pushed Stone's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Garcia works over Stone's head and body with a nice combination.

Stone is pressed up against the cage. Garcia has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Stone down to the mat. Stone avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Garcia swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Stone is now in Garcia's guard. A big mistake from Garcia there, giving up the dominant position!

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Stone is looking to chop away at Garcia's legs.

Garcia shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Garcia uses his free foot to push down on Stone's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Stone.

Garcia looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Garcia moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Stone has worked his arm free - good work by Stone!
