PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jin Jiao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Venture (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Venture has chosen "Fast Shadow" by Wu-Tang Clan as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Jin Jiao has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jin Jiao seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Venture darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Venture looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jiao is fending him off so far but Venture persists. Nope, Jiao circles away and we're back to standing.

Venture is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Jiao 's shoulder. That is not cool.

Venture misses with a takedown attempt - Jiao sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Venture tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jiao paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Venture drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Venture wants to control from the top but Jiao keeps moving.

Venture sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jiao 's guard.
Venture throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Venture stalling.
Jiao tries to kick Venture off but Venture keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Venture is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Venture postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Jiao to stand up.

Venture pushes Jiao up against the cage in a clinch.
Jiao wants to get back to striking at distance but Venture won't allow it.
Jiao has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Venture keeps control of Jiao as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Jiao is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Venture escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jiao steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Venture.
Venture shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jiao sprawls well. Jiao wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Venture gets slowly back to his feet.

Dean Venture is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

and Jiao counters with a big head kick but Venture shrugs it off.

Venture stops Jiao from standing up.

Venture drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Venture seems to have locked his on tight now - Jiao screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Venture, as he picks up the win!
