PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Roger Sander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Roger Sander has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roger Sander!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andy Kane!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sander darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Sander looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Kane works his way to full guard. Good work.
Kane wants to stand but Sander is controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sander tries to free his leg and advance position but Kane is retaining full guard.
Kane lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Sander!

Kane has control of Sander's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Sander regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Sander knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kane on the ground.

Kane swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Sander is now in Kane's guard. A big mistake from Kane there, giving up the dominant position!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kane has his feet on Sander's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Kane misses with a takedown

and Sander counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Kane is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kane bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sander's guard.

Kane drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kane jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Kane trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Kane is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Kane thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Sander throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Kane drops back looking for a leg! Sander is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sander manages to kick Kane off! Kane jumps back into Sander's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kane thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Sander is trying to control the position but Kane postures up.

Kane drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kane jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Sander looking for a sweep. Not yet Sander, not yet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kane drops back looking for a leg! Sander is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sander manages to kick Kane off! Kane jumps back into Sander's guard.

Kane drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Sander dives on top into guard.

Kane working for a triangle but Sander defends it easily.

Kane pushes Sander off and scrambles back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sander shoots and misses

and Kane counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Kane thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Sander is trying to control but can't.

Kane is working for a kimura but Sander is defending it quite comfortably.
This has been an exciting period of action!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Sander is defending against the submission attempts here by Kane.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andy Kane dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Sander shoots and misses

and Kane counters with a nice double leg into side control. Sander won't be happy with that.

Kane wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sander, who protects the arm well.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Kane thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
You can see the frustration on Sander's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Kane tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kane has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Sander is looking for a sweep.
Sander can't do much from the bottom here.

Kane is trying to get an arm triangle but Sander is defending well.

Kane thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Kane has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Sander is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Kane yanks on the arm and Sander is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Kane.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Andy Kane!
