PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sharp Percry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Efrain Escudero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sharp Percry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Efrain Escudero!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Percry throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Percry just misses with a punch to the body.
Escudero ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Percry throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Escudero avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Percry shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Escudero but Escudero pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Percry tries to close the distance and clinch up but Escudero swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Percry fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Escudero manages to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Percry swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Percry shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Escudero as he avoids it easily.

Escudero closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Percry to the mat! Percry manages to get full guard.

Escudero controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Despite being in the dominant position, Efrain Escudero just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Percry misses with a wild combination.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Escudero shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Percry is trying to defend but Escudero finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Let's hope that Escudero has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Percry throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Escudero stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Percry tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Escudero was well out of range. Poor timing from Percry.

Escudero decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Escudero seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Percry tries to roll over but Escudero keeps him under control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Percry wants to get back to his feet.
Escudero is looking to advance position but Percry won't allow it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Percry will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Percry cracks Escudero with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Percry is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
A lull in the action here.

Percry tries to improve position but can't.
Escudero tries to move to mount but Percry blocks the move with his legs.
Percry is trying to improve his position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Percry struggling a bit here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Efrain Escudero showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

and Escudero decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Percry's guard.

Escudero got a little sloppy there for a moment and Percry has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Escudero has managed to get both his arms back between Percry's legs - danger averted.
Escudero must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Escudero wants to control from the top but Percry keeps moving.
Sharp Percry has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Efrain Escudero is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Percry is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Escudero is aware though and is defending well.
