The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reese tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Evangelisti swivels and escapes.

Evangelisti moves into range and clinches up with Reese.
Evangelisti gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Reese.
Evangelisti lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Reese backwards.
Reese looking for a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thaddeus Reese. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Reese is trying to break the clinch but Evangelisti has him pressed against the ropes.
Reese is working for takedown but Evangelisti is calmly controlling the position for now.

Reese changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Evangelisti fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Evangelisti throws a leg kick which misses Reese's front leg but catches the back leg as Reese tries to avoid it.
Reese is breathing heavily.
Evangelisti connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Reese momentarily.

It looks like Thaddeus Reese has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Whack! Evangelisti lands a heavy head kick that drops Reese. The ref tackles Evangelisti to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Reese was done.
