PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Glover (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Pace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Glover's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Run to the hills. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Glover!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Pace!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pace shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Glover napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Pace thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Pace lands some shots froms side control.
Pace fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Pace trying to control the action but Glover is working from the bottom.
Glover wants to control but Pace postures up.
The ground and pound from Pace seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Glover is looking to reverse the position.
Pace working the strikes but Glover uses the opportunity to regain half guard.

Glover actively working from the bottom here.
Pace throws a strike but Glover avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Pace drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Glover is looking to regain half guard here but Pace keeps moving and retains side control.
Pace working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Pace goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Glover has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Pace but great work by Glover.
Pace is looking to reverse the position.
Pace is not content to let Glover control the position.
Pace tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Glover working the head and body with strikes.
Pace is trying to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Glover lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Pace is working to avoid the ground and pound but Glover connects with a decent elbow.
Pace tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Glover wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Glover landing a few strikes.


It looks like Mark Pace has been cut.

Pace takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Glover working the head and body with strikes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pace tries to buck Glover off but Glover is having none of it.
Pace regains half guard.
Nice strikes from Glover there.
Glover looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Pace with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Glover drops an elbow to the side of Pace's head.
Pace moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Pace manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Glover manages to get himself to full guard.
Pace landing with the ground and pound.

Pace avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Glover looking for a guillotine here but Pace defends easily.
Glover is breathing heavily.

Glover is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Pace throwing strikes but missing.
Pace working some strikes from top position.
Pace is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Pace with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Pace must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Pace wants to pass the guard but Glover is keeping the position.

Glover working for a triangle but Pace defends it easily.

Pace throws a strike but Glover rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Pace manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Glover manages to get himself to full guard.
Pace wants to control from the top but Glover keeps moving.
Pace throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Glover works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pace is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Pace postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Glover is on top in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mark Pace will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Mark Pace's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Glover has his takedown stuffed

and Pace counters with a single leg into guard. Glover didn't expect that.

Glover looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Pace throws a strike but Glover rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Pace looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Glover trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Pace looking for a guillotine here but Glover defends easily.
Mark Pace has got the better of the ground game so far.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Glover accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Glover has momentary wrist control but Pace slips an elbow through the middle.

Pace loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Pace drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Glover dives on top into guard.

Pace is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Glover has his hands clasped together but Pace extends an breaks Glover's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Pace.
