The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burroughs throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

It looks like Xander Burroughs has been cut.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Rizzo takes a swing at Burroughs's ribcage but misses.

Burroughs tries to lock up and control but Rizzo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rizzo has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Burroughs's face.
Burroughs is trying desperately to improve position.

Rizzo is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Burroughs has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Rizzo jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Burroughs is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Burroughs and Rizzo has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Burroughs is looking to reverse the position.

and Rizzo counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Burroughs is lucky that one didn't land flush.

and Burroughs counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Rizzo's guard now.
Rizzo lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Burroughs!
Burroughs is trying to escape the mount.

Rizzo can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Burroughs is looking to escape.
Rizzo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Rizzo is landing with some decent strikes but Burroughs is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Burroughs tries to lock up and control but Rizzo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Burroughs really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rizzo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Burroughs is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
