Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shaughn Vos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Shaughn Vos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Matt James!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
James throws a head kick that misses.
Vos takes a head kick and shrugs it off.


It looks like Shaughn Vos has been cut.
James misses with a head kick.
James stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and James wants it to stay on the feet.
Vos shoots in for a takedown but James shows good takedown defense.
Vos closes this distance looking for a takedown but James circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shaughn Vos. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Vos keeps the fight on the outside.

James has taken the fight to the clinch.
Vos is looking for a takedown up against the cage. James gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

James's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
James throws a one two combo.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Vos shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. James manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
James wants to stand up but Vos is controlling him.
Vos looking to sit in guard and control but James gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Vos striking from the bottom.

James prevents Vos from getting back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

James gets to his feet. Vos looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Nice takedown defense from James. No joy for Vos on that attempt.
James plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Vos throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

James fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Vos, pushing him back against the cage.
Vos tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. James smiles and moves away.
Nice takedown defense from James. No joy for Vos on that attempt.
Vos is breathing heavily.

Vos scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Vos missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

James is trying to stand.
Vos wants to control but James is keeping him busy.
Vos has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
James is trying to stand back up but Vos is controlling him
Vos stalling away here and it's allowed James to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Vos trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Vos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. James swivels though and keeps the full guard.
James wants to get back to his feet but Vos is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
James throws a right and a left that both miss.
Vos shoots in for a double leg but James sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Some wild striking there from James.
Vos misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Vos fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but James avoids it really well and circles away.
James leaves Vos with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A solid leg kick lands there for James.
James throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Vos chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before James can pounce on him.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
James fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Vos.
Vos blocks a head kick by James.

Vos takes a kick to the side of the head.

James moves into the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

James's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Vos keeps the fight on the outside.
Vos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. James tries to avoid it but Vos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag James to the ground. James escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Vos closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Vos tries to advance position but instead James slips a leg back in to half guard.
James is trying to stand up here but Vos is controlling him well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vos perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt James dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Shaughn Vos's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


James stuffs the takedown.
James displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Vos.
James fails in his attempt to clinch.
James lands with a slapping head kick.
James paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Vos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. James tries to avoid it but Vos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag James to the ground. James escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Vos swings and misses with a hook to the body.
James tries to clinch up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Vos.
James is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Vos is controlling him well.
Vos is looking to take a break and control but James is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Vos throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and James works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Vos thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Vos wants to control but James is keeping him busy.
Vos frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
James is trying to stand up.
Vos is looking to work his way around to James's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
James is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Vos putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

Vos working for a guillotine from mount but James is in no mood to give up.
James tries to buck Vos off but he can't manage it.
Vos punishing his opponent with strikes.
Vos with the ground and pound from mount.

The referee warns James that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Vos looking to finish James with some ground and pound. This is bad for James!
James is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Vos is landing with some decent strikes but James is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Vos controlling the pace for now.
James really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vos. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Vos lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Vos with shots to the head and body - James looks very uncomfortable down there.

Vos tries to control but James wriggling away.
James taking shots to the head.
James is squirming around, avoiding Vos's attempts to control the action.
Vos landing strikes from the mount.

Vos is going oldschool here, as he tries to force James to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so James shrugs it off.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Vos cracks James with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Vos scores with a takedown into James's guard.
Vos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. James swivels though and keeps the full guard.

James pushes Vos off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

James clinches.
Vos has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. James is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

James breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Vos tries to score a power double leg takedown but James sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Vos somewhat.
Matt James seems to be getting the better of the standup.
James lands a head kick. Vos smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
James defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Vos.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shaughn Vos. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Vos drives through with a takedown into guard.
Vos wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.
James wants to stand up but Vos is controlling him.
Vos tries to stand but James is controlling from the bottom.
James utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Vos trying to control but James is working from the bottom.
Vos wants to pass the guard but James is keeping the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
James circles away from the clinch attempt.
Nice sprawl there from James as Vos shoots in.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Vos is defended easily by James.
James throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Vos blocks a head kick by James.
James throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Vos scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Vos trying to control the position but James is working away.
James wants to get back to his feet but Vos drags him back down.
James is not content to let Vos control the position.
Vos works to advance to full mount. James defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Vos is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Vos!
