Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ethel da Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). da Silva has chosen AC/DC - Black Ice as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mark Stone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ethel da Silva!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

da Silva closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Stone to the mat! Stone manages to get full guard.

Stone is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Stone has picked da Silva up - he's going for a ride! Stone dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Stone is keen to just control but da Silva is a slippery customer.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

da Silva has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Stone is working away from the top position though.

da Silva is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Stone pulls his head out easily.

It looks like Ethel da Silva has been cut.
Stone scores with a kick to the body.

Stone closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming da Silva to the mat! da Silva manages to get full guard.
da Silva wants to stand but Stone is controlling the position.
Stone stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. da Silva swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Stone throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

da Silva tries to pull guard but Stone holds him up against the cage and eventually da Silva drops back down to his feet.

A slapping body kick lands there for da Silva.
Stone scores with the left hand. da Silva knows he should have avoided that one.
Stone tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Stone gets in close and instigates a clinch.
da Silva keeps control of Stone as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Stone is trying to drag da Silva to the mat but da Silva just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Stone is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
da Silva tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Stone just stands there and leans against the cage.

da Silva jumps into guard, dragging Stone to the mat.
Stone throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Stone is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

da Silva has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stone can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Stone wants to stand but da Silva is controlling his posture from full guard.
Stone has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Stone counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Stone.

Stone escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Stone shoots in and drives through. da Silva sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Stone. That's going to take a lot out of him.
da Silva takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Stone wants to clinch.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Stone has da Silva pushed against the cage.
Stone gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mark Stone will probably get the nod.

Stone is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but da Silva is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
da Silva takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
da Silva pushes Stone away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Stone gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Stone wants to control but da Silva is keeping him busy.
Stone moves into full mount!
Stone tries to control but da Silva wriggling away.
Stone lands a big elbow.
da Silva is working to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
da Silva is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
da Silva is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Stone controlling the pace for now.
Stone seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down da Silva for as long as he can get away with.

Stone can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as da Silva is looking to escape.
