Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Masaru Hirai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Paul Eiman!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Fujiwara and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eiman blocks a head kick by Hirai.
Hirai fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Eiman.
Hirai thuds his right hand into Eiman's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Hirai tries to land a front kick but Eiman steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Hirai lands a big head kick that sends Eiman tumbling to the mat! Hirai takes a step backwards and waves Eiman back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like John Paul Eiman has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Eiman avoids the head kick by Hirai.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Eiman.
Hirai throws a head kick that misses.
Hirai misses with a head kick.
Hirai swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Eiman shoots in looking for a takedown. Hirai tries to sprawl out of it but Eiman keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hirai manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Eiman avoids the head kick by Hirai.
Hirai throws a head kick but Eiman moves out of range.
Eiman tries for a takedown but Hirai sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Masaru Hirai has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Paul Eiman.
Hirai throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Eiman's head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Eiman shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hirai defends it nicely.
Eiman shoots in for a double leg but Hirai sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hirai throws a sloppy head kick and Eiman moves out of range easily.
Eiman is trying desperately to land a takedown but Hirai is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Eiman.
Hirai misses with a looping right.

Eiman drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Hirai is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Eiman asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Eiman swings around for an armbar but Hirai sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Eiman's guard.
Hirai trying to control the position from guard on top but Eiman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hirai has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Eiman is proving hard to escape from.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Eiman working for a triangle but Hirai defends it easily.
Eiman lands an upkick as Hirai stands over him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hirai slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Eiman is letting Hirai control him for a moment.
Eiman is looking for a sweep.
Eiman striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Eiman tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Hirai wants to control but Eiman is keeping busy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Hirai is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Eiman knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Eiman for a finish.
Eiman wants to escape the position.
Hirai punches the canvas rather than the man.
Hirai tries to keep control of the position but Eiman is staying busy.
Eiman tries to break free.
Hirai tries to get the hooks in deep but Eiman pushed the leg off.
Hirai is trying to stick to Eiman's back but Eiman is turning into Hirai. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Hirai's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Eiman.

Eiman drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Eiman seems to have locked his on tight now - Hirai screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Eiman, as he picks up the win!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). John Paul Eiman!
