PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Morris Payne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Maxwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Payne comes to the cage accompanied by Elephant Man - Haters (feat Hunt & Jim Jones) . The crowd seem to be enjoying Maxwell's choice of entrance music: Basket Case. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Morris Payne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Juan Maxwell!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paulsen Ambrosius and Aafke Stam.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Payne darts in and clinches Maxwell up against the cage.
Payne tries to break the clinch but Maxwell is controlling the position.
Maxwell lands a left hand that snaps the head of Payne backwards.
Payne really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Payne digs a right hand underneath Maxwell's ribcage. Maxwell let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Payne is looking to break free of the clinch but Maxwell has double underhooks.
Maxwell goes for a takedown in the clinch but Payne prevents it.

Maxwell pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Maxwell throws a sloppy head kick and Payne moves out of range easily.
Payne fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Maxwell manages to avoid it.
Maxwell closes the distance and clinches up with Payne, looking for a takedown. Maxwell pushes Payne against the cage but Payne circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Maxwell wants to clinch but Payne slips to the side
and Payne makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Maxwell goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Maxwell drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Maxwell content to stall in guard here.
Maxwell prevents Payne from getting back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Maxwell wants to pass the guard but Payne is keeping the position.

Payne isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Maxwell stacks Payne on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Maxwell!
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Maxwell is looking to take a break and control but Payne is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Payne is trying to get back to his feet.
Payne is breathing heavily.
Maxwell working the head with strikes.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Payne is working to avoid the ground and pound but Maxwell connects with a decent elbow.
Payne is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Maxwell has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Maxwell stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Maxwell fails with the takedown
and Payne counters with a one-two to the body.
Morris Payne has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Juan Maxwell.
Maxwell lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Maxwell.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Maxwell.
Morris Payne is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Maxwell gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Payne counters with an inside leg kick.

Maxwell is looking to clinch but Payne is avoiding it.
Maxwell tries for a takedown but Payne sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Maxwell gets a takedown into half guard.
Payne is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Maxwell scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Maxwell in particular looking to stall.
Maxwell frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Maxwell looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Payne wants to get back to his feet.
Payne is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Maxwell has taken his back!

Maxwell has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Payne is defending well but eventually Maxwell manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Payne has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
