Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, james hatfield!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Stephan Carr!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Donald Grub and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
hatfield shoots in for a double leg but Carr sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Carr tries to clinch up.
Carr doesn't manage to clinch there - hatfield circles away.
hatfield fails with a takedown attempt.
Carr fails with an attempt to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Carr looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Carr is looking to clinch but hatfield is avoiding it.
Carr fails with an attempt to clinch.
Carr fails to land with a series of punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

hatfield throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Carr was covering up waiting for the punch and hatfield finishes the takedown easily into guard.
hatfield stops Carr from standing up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Carr can do anything to dispel that myth.

Carr kicks hatfield off and gets to his feet.

Carr forces hatfield back against the cage and clinches.
A bit of stalling here from Carr.
Carr pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Carr breaks from the clinch.
hatfield tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Carr counters by clinching up.
Carr landing knees to the head.

Carr pulls guard.
hatfield trying to control but Carr is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Carr manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Carr darts in and clinches hatfield up against the cage.

hatfield blocks an elbow strike.
Carr creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through hatfield's defenses.
Carr with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
hatfield looking to slow down the pace here.

Carr jumps into guard, dragging hatfield to the mat.
Carr is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and hatfield dives into side control.
Carr pushes hatfield away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, hatfield gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Carr parries the strikes from hatfield easily there. hatfield is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Carr to escape.
hatfield is breathing heavily.
Carr is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but hatfield has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Carr throws hatfield to one side and escapes!
hatfield has his takedown stuffed

and Carr holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for james hatfield. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Carr tries for a takedown. No joy.
hatfield blocks the elbow strike.
Carr changes levels and goes for a takedown here. hatfield fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Stephan Carr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carr closes the distance but hatfield moves to the side

and hatfield counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Carr's guard now.
hatfield pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Carr is keeping the position for now.
Carr is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Carr is looking to stand back up but hatfield counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Carr.
hatfield moves into full mount! Carr won't be happy about that!

Carr's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
hatfield moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Carr has worked his arm free - good work by Carr!
hatfield trying to control the action but Carr is working from the bottom.
Carr avoids any damage from the ground and pound of hatfield.
Carr is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, hatfield asserts his dominance and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Stephan Carr will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Carr rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but hatfield moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Carr shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in hatfield's guard.
hatfield is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carr wants to stand but hatfield has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Carr stands and steps away. hatfield gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Carr darts in trying to clinch

and hatfield counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by hatfield.
hatfield wanted to stand there but Carr had control of the position.
Carr avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Carr is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst hatfield is controlling him.

Carr scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Carr looks to clinch

and hatfield counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by hatfield.

Carr pulls hatfield into guard.

hatfield drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Carr manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now hatfield has Carr in his guard.
hatfield has a closed guard, preventing Carr from standing up.

Carr stands and steps away. hatfield gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Carr pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Carr shoots for a double leg takedown but hatfield sprawls well. He's pushed Carr's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and hatfield counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by hatfield.

Carr is looking to stand up but hatfield isn't so interested in that idea.
hatfield postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Carr wants to stand up but hatfield is controlling him.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Carr wants to clinch.
Carr scores with a head kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that james hatfield will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Carr doesn't manage to clinch there - hatfield circles away.
Carr throws a left and a right that both miss

and hatfield holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
hatfield tries a body shot but Carr blocks it.
Carr stalling against the cage.
Carr lands an elbow just above hatfield 's eye.
Carr lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
hatfield tries for a takedown. No joy.

Carr manages to break the clinch.
hatfield shoots for a takedown but Carr saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Carr closes the distance and clinches.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Carr breaks the clinch.
Carr shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Carr has closed the distance and engaged hatfield in a clinch.
Carr lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Carr drags the fight down to the ground.

Carr can't keep his opponent in guard - hatfield advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Carr pushes hatfield off looking to stand but hatfield dives back in and keeps control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
hatfield is keen to just control but Carr is a slippery customer.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
hatfield has a takedown stuffed.

Carr clinches.

Carr's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Carr tries to grapple but his opponent circles

so hatfield counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Carr is looking to stand up but hatfield isn't so interested in that idea.

Carr has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes hatfield off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Carr connects with a nasty looking knee right to hatfield's face.

Carr manages to break the clinch.
hatfield tries for a takedown but Carr sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Carr moves into range and clinches up with hatfield.
hatfield has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Come on Carr - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
hatfield tries to land knees in the clinch but Carr avoids the damage to the body.
Carr unloads a knee to the mid-section.

Carr manages to break the clinch.
Carr tries to clinch up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Carr doesn't succeed with the takedown

and hatfield counters with a shoot takedown. Carr fights it but they end up in guard.
hatfield wants to control from the top but Carr keeps moving.

Carr uses the cage to get back to his feet.
hatfield shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Carr as he jumps to the side.
hatfield circles away from the clinch attempt

and hatfield decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Carr's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
hatfield prevents Carr from getting back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
james hatfield showed his dominance in that final round.
I think hatfield has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
