PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Barraclough (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barraclough comes to the cage accompanied by MGMT - Electric Feel. Black has chosen AC/DC - Back in Black as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Lucas Black told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

With a record of 8 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Lucas Black!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Hugh Johnson and Steve Erwin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barraclough on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Barraclough walks into a jab.
Black cracks Barraclough with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Barraclough scores with a hook.
Black throws a right and a left that both miss.
Black connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Barraclough takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Black looks to land a combination but Barraclough avoids it well.
Barraclough checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Black lands with a shot to the body.

Black throws out a loose jab but Barraclough uses good head movement to avoid it.
Barraclough tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Black swivels and escapes.
Both fighters circling a little - Black finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Barraclough moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Barraclough is looking to clinch but Black is avoiding it.

Barraclough drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Barraclough is breathing heavily.
Black is trying to control Barraclough's posture but Barraclough avoids it.
The strikes coming from Barraclough are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Barraclough misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Barraclough goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Black has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Barraclough but great work by Black.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Black decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Black lands a jab-cross combination.
Black takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Black scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Barraclough fails with the takedown.
A punch combination from Barraclough misses.
Barraclough throws a head kick but Black moves out of range.
Black feints and then cracks Barraclough's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Barraclough down.
Barraclough doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Black lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Barraclough circles away quickly and effectively.
Black misses with a series of wild punches.
Nice jab there from Black.
Barraclough misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Black throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Barraclough counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
The crowd cheers as Black lands an impressive looking overhand right. Barraclough doesn't seem phased though.

Black fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Barraclough looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Barraclough shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Barraclough slips a jab and a cross from Black.
Black avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Barraclough tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Black connects with a body shot.
Black throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Barraclough has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

enabling Barraclough to counter with a crisp jab.
Black lands a nice looking kick to the body. Barraclough takes a step back to recover.

Lucas Black is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Barraclough loads up on a big right hand but Black slips the punch.
Black scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Black lands with an uppercut that bounces Barraclough off the cage and back into rage.
Black goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Barraclough throws a push kick but Black slaps the foot to one side.

A head kick misses from Black.
Black lands with a good body shot.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Black lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Barraclough has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Barraclough and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Barraclough takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Black lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Barraclough circles away quickly and effectively.
Barraclough lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Black jabs at Barraclough's body.
Barraclough takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Black throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Black scores with a crisp jab that stopped Barraclough in his tracks.

and Black counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Barraclough closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Black lands with a hook. Barraclough tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
