PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chase Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chase Harris has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chase Harris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chuck Liddell!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harris dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Liddell. That did some damage!
Harris fails in his attempt to clinch.
Harris shoots for a double leg takedown but Liddell sprawls well. He's pushed Harris's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Harris fails to land the takedown.
Harris changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Liddell tries to avoid it but Harris manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Liddell to the ground. Liddell escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chase Harris. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Harris feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Liddell wants to control from the top but Harris keeps moving.
Liddell thows a big elbow that misses.
Harris is controlling Liddell's posture.
Liddell postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Liddell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Harris. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Liddell slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Harris is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Liddell has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Liddell shoots for a takedown but Harris saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Liddell takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Harris closes this distance looking for a takedown but Liddell circles away.
Harris throws a head kick that half lands.

and Harris holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Liddell drops down looking for an ankle pick but Harris pulls his leg out and moves away.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Liddell shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Harris tries to clinch there but Liddell circles away.

Harris closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Liddell escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Liddell counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Harris wants to control but Liddell is keeping busy.
Harris manages to get to full guard.

Liddell throws and elbow that misses. Harris uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Liddell's guard. Nice move by Harris!

Harris has gone for a leg lock! Liddell slips out almost immediately though and dives into Harris's guard.
Liddell must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Harris has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Liddell with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Liddell shoots in for a double leg but Harris sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Liddell throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Liddell working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Harris doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Harris manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Liddell wants to stand and escape but Harris is having none of it.
Harris wants to get up but he can't break Liddell's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Liddell shoots in looking for a takedown. Harris tries to sprawl out of it but Liddell keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Harris manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Liddell lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Harris!

Liddell can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Harris is looking to escape.

Liddell looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Harris tries to hold on but Liddell pushes him away.
BOOM! Liddell connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Harris is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Harris tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Harris tries to hold on but Liddell postures up.
Harris regains half guard.

Harris is positioning himself well to prevent Liddell advancing to mount.
Harris pushes Liddell off looking to stand but Liddell dives back in and keeps control.
Liddell passes the guard and advances to mount!
Liddell landing strikes from the mount and Harris is in trouble!
Harris in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Liddell lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.


Harris is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Oh Harris is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Liddell throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Chuck Liddell comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Liddell has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
