PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andre Azh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Line (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Azh's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Manu Militari - Voix De Fait. Line is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Human Cannonball. Peter Line acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andre Azh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Peter Line!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paul Aken and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Azh darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Line moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Azh showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Line keeping full guard, as Azh tries to pass.
Line bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Azh's guard.
Azh looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Line trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Line with a flurry of punches that miss.
Azh keeping full guard, as Line tries to pass.

Azh is really struggling to control Line but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Azh looking for a sweep. Not yet Azh, not yet.
Line scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Line in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Line throws a body punch but Azh moves out of range.
Azh moves away from the strike by Line.
Azh throws the left hand but Line avoids the punch easily.
Azh looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Azh is looking to clinch but Line is avoiding it.
Azh displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Line throws out the jab.
Line shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Azh but Azh pushes him off and we're back to square one.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Azh keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
A jab lands there for Azh.
Line misses with a looping right.
Azh shoots in but Line avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Line darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Azh steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Line.
Azh drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Line misses with a hook. Azh ducked under it nicely.
Line throws a hook to the side of Azh's head but Azh sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Azh throws a hook but Line avoids it easily.
Azh swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Line punishes Azh's body with a nice straight punch.
A big left from Azh misses.
Azh misses with an attempted mid kick.
Line with a lazy takedown attempt
and Azh counters with a left to the body.
Andre Azh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Line.
Azh lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Line swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Azh counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Azh throws a leg kick but Line moved away.
Line tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Azh paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Line smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Line cracks a nice hook into Azh's ribs.

Line throws an overhand right that lands on Azh's shoulder, as Azh tries to avoid the shot.

Line closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Azh did well to prevent Line getting side control.
Line scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Azh manages to get to full guard.
Line with a flurry of punches that miss.
Azh controls Line momentarily but Line frees himself.
Azh working a defensive guard but Line passes into half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Azh is looking for a sweep. Line is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Azh keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Azh trying to hold on to Line's head to control him but Line postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Peter Line will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Line creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Line tries to score a body lock takedown but Azh shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Azh tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Line.
Line has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Azh is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Azh looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Azh throws a strike aimed at the side of Line's head but Line avoids it well.
A lull in the action here.
Line regains half guard there - taking advantage of Azh's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Line is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Azh pulls his head out easily.
Azh wants to pass the guard but Line is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Line moves into full guard.
Azh trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Azh being controlled here momentarily.
Azh wants to control from the top but Line keeps moving.
Line is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Line is looking for a triangle but Azh pushes his legs off easily.
Azh throws a big right hand that misses.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Line counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Nice defenses there by Line.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Azh is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Azh doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Line showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Azh walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Jab, jab by Line - just one landing.
Azh paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Azh connects with the punch.
Azh misses with a low kick.
Line gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Azh.
Line throws a nice looking combination but Azh bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and Azh counters with a takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Line is looking to regain half guard here but Azh keeps moving and retains side control.
Line is letting Azh control him for a moment.
You can see the frustration on Line's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Azh tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Line tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Azh wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Line takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Azh goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Line has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Azh but great work by Line.
Line wants to lay and pray for a moment but Azh keeps working.
Azh manages to work his way to half guard, despite Line's best efforts.
Line is keen to just control but Azh is a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Azh keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Line wants to take a breather but Azh is having none of it.
Andre Azh overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Line on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Line lands with a shot to the body.
Peter Line is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Line drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Line won't allow Azh to sweep him here.
Line slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Line takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Azh controls Line momentarily but Line frees himself.
Azh looking to hit a scissor sweep but Line is one step ahead there.
Line is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Line postures up.
Azh is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Line slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Azh wants to sweep but no luck.
Andre Azh has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Line controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Azh wants to sweep here but Line controlling him for the moment.
Azh thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Andre Azh showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Line has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
