PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Action Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Super Cow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Action Jackson has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Action Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Super Cow!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Thiago Cunha and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cow.
Cow tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jackson swivels and escapes.

Jackson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Jackson tries to move to full mount but Cow actually manages to regain half guard.
Cow regains full guard. Nicely done.
Jackson postures up.
Jackson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Jackson controlling from the top position.
Cow wants to sweep here but Jackson controlling him for the moment.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cow is on top in guard.

Jackson keeping moving, preventing Cow from controlling successfully.
Jackson is pulling down on Cow's head. It's preventing any offense from Cow, at least for the moment.
Cow trying to control but Jackson is working from the bottom.
Jackson controls Cow momentarily but Cow frees himself.
Cow sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jackson's guard.
Cow wants to control but Jackson is keeping him busy.
Cow thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jackson's head.
Jackson is trying to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cow is trying to control the action in half guard but Jackson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cow is pressing down on Jackson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jackson is holding on for now.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Cow circles away from the clinch attempt.

Jackson takes the fight into the clinch.

Jackson decides to pull guard.
Cow stays in close to Jackson's body and controls the position.
Cow looking to sit in guard and control but Jackson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Cow is looking to sweep but instead, Jackson has passed into half guard.
Jackson not doing much here.

Cow tries to roll over but Jackson keeps him under control.
Jackson stops Cow from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are battling for position here. Cow manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Cow looks gassed!
Cow is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jackson is controlling him.

Jackson won't allow Cow to sweep him here.
Jackson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Cow lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jackson!
Cow pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Jackson tries to hold on but Cow postures up.
Jackson is trying to stand up.
Jackson trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Cow goes for an armbar but Jackson turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Jackson.

Jackson stands up and waves to Cow to follow him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Action Jackson dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Jackson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cow's guard.
Cow trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Jackson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cow is keeping the position for now.
Jackson looking to sit in guard and control but Cow gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Cow forces his way into half guard.
Cow seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jackson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Cow wants to pass to mount but Jackson is defending the position.

Jackson is in trouble now - Cow has advanced to mount!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cow sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Cow working for a submission but Jackson is keeping him at bay.
Cow controlling the pace for now.

Cow jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Jackson is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Jackson and Cow has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Jackson struggling a bit here.
An elbow from Cow crashes against the mat.
Jackson is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Jackson is not content to let Cow control the position.
Action Jackson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
A lull in the action here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Cow is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jackson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Cow tries to advance to mount but Jackson denies him.
Jackson wants to control but Cow postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Cow wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jackson keeps working.

Despite being in the dominant position, Super Cow just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cow takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Jackson scores with a takedown into Cow's guard.
Cow has a closed guard, preventing Jackson from standing up.

Jackson gets to his feet - Cow follows without any prompting.
Action Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jackson forces Cow back against the cage and clinches.

Jackson jumps guard.
Cow won't allow Jackson to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Action Jackson will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Cow gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Jackson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Cow fails with the takedown.

Jackson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Jackson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Jackson passes Cow's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Cow has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jackson is working away from the top position though.
Jackson with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Jackson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Cow wants to control but Jackson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Jackson is trying to control the action in half guard but Cow is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Jackson tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Cow.
Cow is pressing down on Jackson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Cow being controlled here, momentarily.

Cow has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Jackson should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Cow has tightened it up now! Jackson should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
