PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between jaec caturan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vince Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vince Jones is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, jaec caturan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Vince Jones!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, William Gold and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

caturan is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Jones's half guard.
Jones is trying to stand back up but caturan is controlling him

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with caturan in particular looking to stall.

caturan throwing shots but Jones is blocking nicely.
Jones is doing well to control the position and prevent caturan from advancing to side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Jones is not content to let caturan control the position.

Jones tries to land a leg kick but caturan saw it coming and moves away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jones gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

caturan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jones on the ground.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

caturan parries the strikes from Jones easily there. Jones is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable caturan to escape.
Jones fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Jones wants to control but caturan is keeping him busy.

Jones thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Sloppy strikes there by Jones.

caturan takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Jones fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Jones misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
caturan parries the strikes from Jones easily there. Jones is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable caturan to escape.

Jones creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Jones decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Jones has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Vince Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


caturan takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

caturan is refusing to be controlled, as Jones sits in half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
caturan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

caturan desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Jones works his way into side control.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Jones. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

caturan takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
caturan is looking to regain half guard here but Jones keeps moving and retains side control.
Jones creates some space and throws a big elbow, but caturan sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Jones misses with a head kick.
Jones misses with a jab, cross combination.

Jones clinches.
Jones is trying to break the clinch but caturan has him pressed against the cage.
Jones wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but caturan has him pressed against the cage.

Jones slows down the pace here.

Jones has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but caturan regains guard immediately.
Vince Jones has got the better of the ground game so far.

Jones decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

and Jones counters with a nice double leg into side control. caturan won't be happy with that.

caturan is trying to improve his position.
caturan avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Jones.
caturan is not content to let Jones control the position.
Jones is working caturan over with some ground and pound from side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Vince Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
