PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Retard Strong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Renton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Renton's choice of entrance music: A Small Victory. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Retard Strong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Renton!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Renton throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Strong tries for a takedown but Renton sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Renton catches Strong with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Renton drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Strong wants to sweep but no luck.
Strong striking off his back but it's not causing Renton any problems.
Renton pushing down on Strong's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Renton is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Strong is just riding it out for now. Renton eventually gives up the hold.

Renton looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Strong tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Strong tries to get to full guard but Renton has control of the leg.
Strong is not content to let Renton control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Renton looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Strong flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Strong scores with a few weak punches.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Strong tries to close the distance and clinch but Renton swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Renton misses with a two punch combination.

Renton rushes Strong and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Strong misses with a punch on the inside.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Renton drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Strong gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Renton is trying to break the clinch but Strong is controlling him.
Strong working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
A knee to the head by Strong.

Renton breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Renton thuds his right hand into Strong's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Renton gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Strong to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Strong working some strikes from top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Renton looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Renton looks gassed!
Strong working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Renton looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Strong chips away with some ground and pound.

Renton working for a triangle but Strong defends it easily.
Strong working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Renton's head.
Strong has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Strong throwing strikes but missing.

Renton has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Strong can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Strong landing with the ground and pound.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Strong landing some decent shots from guard.
Renton is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Strong throws a big right hand that misses.
Renton is trying to keep Strong in close.

Renton has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Strong can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Strong with a nice head shot there.
Strong throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Renton works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Strong is working Renton over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Strong is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Renton is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Strong defends well.
Renton has momentary wrist control but Strong slips an elbow through the middle.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Strong lands a couple of elbows.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Renton has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Strong should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Renton has tightened it up now! Strong should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Mark Renton!
