Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Ferreira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, August Derleth!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferreira has a takedown stuffed.
Derleth tries to clinch but Ferreira is having none of it.
Ferreira throws a head kick that half lands.
Derleth throws a sloppy head kick
and Ferreira counters with a straight right hand.
Derleth throws a head kick that misses

and Ferreira counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Ferreira makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Ferreira won't allow Derleth to get back to his feet.
Ferreira controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Ferreira is standing up over Derleth. Derleth looks to escape but Ferreira dives into side control.
Ferreira wants to control but Derleth is keeping him busy.

The ground and pound from Ferreira seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Derleth dodges the ground and pound from Ferreira.
Ferreira has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Ferreira lands an elbow.
Ferreira working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Derleth is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Ferreira asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Ferreira goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Derleth rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Ferreira's guard! Nice work there by Derleth!

Ferreira has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Derleth can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Ferreira has his foot on Derleth's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Derleth works his way back into a safe position though.
Derleth wants to get up but he can't break Ferreira's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Ferreira looking for a sweep. Not yet Ferreira, not yet.
Derleth tries to stand but Ferreira is controlling from the bottom.

Ferreira throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Derleth escapes and throws Ferreira's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Ferreira is looking to reverse the position.

Derleth decides to stand back up. Derleth steps back and let's Ferreira get back to his feet.
Derleth wants to clinch
and Ferreira counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Derleth moves away from the strike by Ferreira.
Derleth has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Ferreira.
Ferreira is looking to score with low kicks.
Derleth closes the distance but Ferreira moves to the side
and Ferreira counters with a nice leg kick.
Derleth tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Ferreira counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Ferreira prevents Derleth from standing back up.
Ferreira throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Derleth is refusing to be controlled, as Ferreira sits in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Derleth tries to kick Ferreira off but Ferreira keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Derleth is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ferreira's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ferreira's back!
Will Derleth go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Ferreira rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Derleth is pressing down on Ferreira's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ferreira is holding on for now.

and Ferreira decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Derleth's guard.
Derleth wants to stand but Ferreira is controlling the position.
Ferreira loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Derleth tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Ferreira counters with a one-two to the body.
Ferreira dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Derleth darts in trying to clinch
and Ferreira cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
August Derleth seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Derleth thows a leg kick but Ferreira checks it
and Ferreira makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Derleth tries to clinch up
and Ferreira counters with a series of strikes. Derleth will be more careful next time no doubt.

and Ferreira counters with a three punch combo that has Derleth backing up. Derleth nods at Ferreira to acknowledge the strikes.

Ferreira throws a looping overhand right but Derleth ducks down to avoid it.

and Ferreira decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Derleth's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ferreira throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Derleth works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ferreira lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Ferreira is in close to Derleth's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Derleth wants to stand but Ferreira is controlling the position.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Ferreira lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Derleth circles away quickly and effectively.
