PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jon Foo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce The Dragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Foo comes into the arena with SOLO blaring out of the sound system. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yukihiro Shimada and Taro Takaoka.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Foo gets a clinch.
Foo is looking to control The Dragon's arms but The Dragon gets an underhook and turns him. Now Foo has his back to the cage.
A head punch on the inside from Foo fails to land.
Foo wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Foo tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. The Dragon smiles and moves away.
The Dragon takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Foo closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming The Dragon to the mat! The Dragon manages to get full guard.
Foo forces his way into half guard.
Foo wants to take a breather but The Dragon is having none of it.
Foo tries to pass the half guard into mount. The Dragon knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Foo wants to control but The Dragon is keeping him busy.
Foo stops The Dragon from getting back to his feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
The Dragon avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The Dragon throws a head kick but Foo moves out of range.
The Dragon tried to score with a low kick but Foo checks it.
Foo feints and then cracks The Dragon's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow The Dragon down.

Foo closes this distance looking for a takedown but The Dragon circles away.

That was a close round but I would say that Jon Foo will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Foo fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt The Dragon.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The Dragon is refusing to be controlled, as Foo sits in half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

A low kick from The Dragon is predictable there
and Foo counters with a one-two to the body.
The Dragon connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Foo wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but The Dragon has him pressed against the cage.

Foo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Bruce The Dragon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Foo shoots in and drives through. The Dragon sprawls well.
The Dragon keeps the fight on the outside.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Foo checks a leg kick.

Foo dives in and grabs The Dragon's left leg, looking for a takedown. The Dragon pushes down on Foo's head and hops out.

Foo has managed to clinch.

Foo ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Foo no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Foo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The Dragon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Foo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The Dragon wants to stand but Foo is controlling his posture from full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

I would just about give that final round to Bruce The Dragon.
