Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matheus Almeida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Almeida comes to the ring accompanied by Inner Circle - Bad Boys. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Mir misses with the combination.
Nice takedown defense from Almeida. No joy for Mir on that attempt.
Almeida could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Almeida is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Mir working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Almeida doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Almeida manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Almeida wants to stand but Mir is controlling his posture from full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Almeida is on top in guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Mir is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mir wants to get back to his feet but Almeida passes into half guard.

Almeida is really struggling to control Mir but he's trying to hold on to the position.
