Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Uriel Angel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kaori Masuyo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Uriel Angel has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Uriel Angel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kaori Masuyo!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Masuyo shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Angel but Angel pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Angel clinches.
Angel gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Masuyo.

Angel pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Angel looks for the body kick but Masuyo saw that one coming.
Masuyo throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Masuyo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Angel is fending him off so far but Masuyo persists. Nope, Angel circles away and we're back to standing.
Uriel Angel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kaori Masuyo.
Masuyo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Masuyo.
Masuyo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Angel's waist but Angel gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Masuyo off to one side.
Angel cracks Masuyo with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the ropes.

Angel shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Masuyo napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Masuyo looks gassed!
Angel controls the position.
Angel has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Angel takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Angel's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Angel tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Masuyo tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Angel controlling the pace for now.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Uriel Angel just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Angel shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Masuyo sprawls well. Masuyo wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Angel gets slowly back to his feet.
Angel connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Masuyo fails with the takedown.
Masuyo takes one to the chin there.

Angel closes the distance and clinches.

Angel breaks the clinch.

Angel tries to close the distance and clinch up but Masuyo swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Masuyo shoots and misses

and Angel counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Angel.
Masuyo can't get the takedown.
Angel tries to pull guard but Masuyo holds him up against the ropes and eventually Angel drops back down to his feet.

Angel breaks the clinch.

Angel escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Masuyo ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Angel moves away.
Kaori Masuyo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Masuyo doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Angel counters with a thumping low kick.
Angel scores with a jab to the head.
Angel connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Angel darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Angel gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Angel throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Angel lands a right hook to the body.

Angel clinches.
Masuyo takes an elbow to the temple.
Masuyo is looking to break free of the clinch but Angel has double underhooks.

Angel breaks the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Angel drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Masuyo throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Uriel Angel dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Angel takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Masuyo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Angel closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
Angel has had enough of the clinch but Masuyo keeps him there for the moment.

Angel manages to pull guard.
Angel is looking to stand up but Masuyo isn't so interested in that idea.
Angel seems keen to control Masuyo's posture.
Masuyo trying to control but Angel is working from the bottom.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Angel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Angel on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Angel tries to get out of the position.
Masuyo is breathing heavily.
Masuyo keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Angel's head.

Masuyo postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Masuyo prevents Angel from getting back to his feet.
Angel controls Masuyo momentarily but Masuyo frees himself.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Masuyo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Masuyo shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Angel holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Angel tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Masuyo has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Angel is trying to keep an underhook but Masuyo manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Angel is looking to control Masuyo's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Angel avoid being mounted?

Angel has one foot on Masuyo's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
