Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Monkey D Luffy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson has chosen Strength Within as his entrance music. Monkey D Luffy has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Monkey D Luffy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, David Schapiro and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
D Luffy shoots in looking for a takedown. Johnson tries to sprawl out of it but D Luffy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Johnson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown but D Luffy shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Johnson misses the shot to the body.

Johnson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Johnson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed D Luffy's head.

D Luffy is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Johnson shoots for a takedown but D Luffy saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

D Luffy shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Johnson's guard.
D Luffy tries to stand but Johnson is controlling from the bottom.

D Luffy is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

D Luffy on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if D Luffy tries to get out of the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed D Luffy's guard.
D Luffy tries to kick Johnson off but Johnson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Johnson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Johnson uses his free foot to push down on D Luffy's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for D Luffy.

Johnson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of D Luffy's face.
Johnson postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. D Luffy looks a forlorn figure.

D Luffy is bucking up trying to escape but Johnson cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Johnson cracks D Luffy with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Steve Johnson!
