PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Igor Borinski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Mass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mass is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXYiU_JCYtU. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Igor Borinski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Thomas Mass!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Steve Montenegro and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mass tries for a takedown but Borinski sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Some wild striking there from Mass.
Mass tries to clinch up but Borinski circles away and keeps his distance.
Mass swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Borinski looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Mass!
Mass is wriggling around trying to escape.
Borinski lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Mass is trying desperately to improve position.
Borinski tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Borinski lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Mass hang on?

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Borinski avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Borinski shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mass sprawls well. Mass wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Borinski gets slowly back to his feet.

Borinski stands and steps away. Mass gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Igor Borinski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thomas Mass.
Mass is pressed up against the cage. Borinski has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mass down to the mat. Mass avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mass shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Mass takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Borinski shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Borinski wants to control the pace but Mass is squirming around nicely.
Borinski takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Borinski can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mass is looking to escape.

You get the feeling that Mass really doesn't like being in this position too much.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Borinski cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

The referee warns Mass that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Borinski is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Mass can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Borinski wants to control the pace but Mass is squirming around nicely.

Borinski working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Borinski has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Borinski could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Borinski pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Mass wants to control his opponent's hands but Borinski gets his hands free.
Borinski keeps control of the position as Mass tries to break free.

I would not like to be Mass right now.
I really don't envy Mass right now.

Mass is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Borinski gets his way!

Borinski feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
