Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Sorrentino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike Sorrentino!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joey Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Daniel Blasius and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick from Johnson misses.
Sorrentino takes a shot right to the bread basket.

It looks like Mike Sorrentino has been cut.

Sorrentino closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Johnson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Sorrentino pulls his leg out and moves away.
Johnson leaves Sorrentino with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Johnson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Johnson throws a leg kick but Sorrentino sees it coming and moves out of range.

Sorrentino swats away the attempt to clinch by Johnson.
Sorrentino shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Johnson as he avoids it easily.

Johnson walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Sorrentino checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Sorrentino. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Sorrentino is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Johnson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Johnson has escaped and now he's on top!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Johnson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Johnson's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Johnson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Sorrentino is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Johnson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Johnson works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sorrentino tries to buck Johnson off but Johnson is having none of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Johnson scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Sorrentino to see if he's OK.

Johnson tries to bum rush Sorrentino with a series of wild strikes but Sorrentino uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Sorrentino drops back, looking for a kneebar! Johnson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Johnson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Johnson!

Sorrentino thows a huge punch but Johnson dodges it nicely.

Sorrentino is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Johnson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sorrentino.

Sorrentino has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Johnson defend it? Sorrentino steps over the head and cranks it - Johnson is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Sorrentino!
