PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Red Rum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quik Yin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yin is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: I Got A Feeling (lol :P). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Red Rum!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quik Yin!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rum tries to close the distance and clinch up but Yin swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rum wants to clinch up but Yin keeps it at a distance.
Rum lands a nice looking kick to the body. Yin takes a step back to recover.
Rum has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Rum there as he acknowledges the shot.
Yin waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Rum.
Rum tries to land a front kick but Yin steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Yin lands a slapping body shot.
Rum wants to clinch.
Yin fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Rum looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Rum swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Rum's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Rum duly obliges.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Yin cracks Rum with an open hand slap.
Yin lands a glancing blow to the side of Rum's head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Yin staying out of range there.

Yin scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Yin seems to be looking for submissions.
Yin prevents Rum from improving his position.
Yin missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Yin is trying to control the action in half guard but Rum is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Rum tries to roll over but Yin keeps him under control.
Rum looks like he's trying to stand up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Yin is looking to stall here but Rum recovers full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Rum fails with an attempt to clinch.

Yin closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rum to the mat! Rum manages to get full guard.
Yin cracks Rum with a solid left hand.
Rum keeping moving, preventing Yin from controlling successfully.
Rum is looking to sweep but instead, Yin has passed into half guard.
Yin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rum keeps working.
Rum keeping hold of Yin's head, controlling as best he can.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Yin frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Rum is bucking up trying to escape but Yin cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Rum tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yin landing strikes from the mount and Rum is in trouble!
Yin lands a big elbow.
Yin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Yin lands a nice shot to the head.
Rum holds on, trying desperately to control.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rum tries to hold on but Yin pushes him away.

Yin is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Rum can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Yin tries to control but Rum wriggling away.
Rum working to try and regain half guard.
Yin putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Yin looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Yin looking to control but Rum is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Yin lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Quik Yin dominated that round.

Rum misses with a straight right.
Rum throws a jab but it's blocked by Yin.
Rum keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Yin shoots in for a takedown but Rum shows good takedown defense.
Yin ducks under a wild hook from Rum.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Rum.
Rum takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Yin uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Rum.
Rum is looking to clinch.
Red Rum seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rum lands a nice looking body kick.
Yin is breathing heavily.
Yin lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Rum at a distance.
Yin is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Rum rather than just go for the knockout.
Rum uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Yin.

Rum thows a left - swing and a miss!
Yin uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rum.

Yin is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Yin lands a couple of elbows.
Rum wants to sweep but no luck.
Yin not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Yin drops back looking for a leg! Rum is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rum manages to kick Yin off! Yin jumps back into Rum's guard.
Yin wants to control from the top but Rum keeps moving.
Rum is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Yin is working Rum over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Yin advances to half guard.
Yin is looking to take a break and control but Rum is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Yin is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Rum regains full guard. Nicely done.
Rum is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Rum bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Yin's guard.

Yin had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rum defends it easily.
Rum has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Rum is looking to stand up but Yin won't let him.
Yin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rum manages to get himself to full guard.
Yin is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Red Rum will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Yin shoots in for a takedown but Rum shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Rum is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Nice uppercut lands for Rum. That snapped Yin's head back.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Yin, as that shot connected.
Yin throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Yin slips a straight right by Rum.
Rum is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rum misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Donk. Rum catches Yin right on the button with a cross.
Rum misses with a leg kick.

Rum misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Yin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Yin showed some decent athleticism there.
Rum is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Yin is trying to control. Rum wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Yin is working for a kimura but Rum is defending it quite comfortably.

Rum wants to get back to full guard.
Rum tries to kick Yin off but Yin keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Yin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rum does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Rum wants to improve his position but Yin is controlling well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Yin scores with a sloppy right hand. Rum should have avoided that one.
Rum tries to close the distance and clinch up but Yin swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Yin closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Rum is trying to maintain the position but Yin is very close to passing his half guard.

Rum makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Yin connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

letting Yin counter with a right hand.
Yin throws a jab but it's blocked by Rum.

Rum closes the distance but Yin moves to the side
and Yin counters with a nice uppercut.
Yin closes the distance and clinches up with Rum, looking for a takedown. Yin pushes Rum against the cage but Rum circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rum throws a hook but Yin avoids it easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Yin connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Rum throws a hook but Yin avoids it easily.
Rum takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Yin throws a body punch but Rum moves out of range.
Yin takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Rum chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Rum scores with a body shot.
Yin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rum tries to avoid it but Yin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rum to the ground. Rum escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Red Rum has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quik Yin.
Rum misses with a looping left.
Rum throws an overhand right that lands on Yin's shoulder, as Yin tries to avoid the shot.
Rum throws the left hand but Yin avoids the punch easily.
Yin loads up on a big right hand but Rum slips the punch.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Quik Yin.
I think Yin has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
