PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kenta Tottori (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kazuo Ishikawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ishikawa has chosen The Black Dahlia Murder - Necropolis as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenta Tottori!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kazuo Ishikawa!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Sosuke Kotani and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tottori shoots in looking for a takedown. Ishikawa tries to sprawl out of it but Tottori keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ishikawa manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Tottori throws out a loose jab but Ishikawa uses good head movement to avoid it.

Tottori fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ishikawa sprawls well initially but Tottori persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Ishikawa is not content to let Tottori control the position.
Tottori moves into full mount! Ishikawa won't be happy about that!
Ishikawa squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

You get the feeling that Ishikawa really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Tottori trying to control but he's not successful this time.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ishikawa can do anything to dispel that myth.

Tottori working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Ishikawa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tottori. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Tottori is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Ishikawa is surviving well by controlling Tottori's body position as best he can.

Ishikawa is trying to stand up.
Tottori cracks Ishikawa with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Ishikawa wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Tottori jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Ishikawa manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Tottori is breathing heavily.

Tottori tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tottori has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ishikawa wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Ishikawa is working to avoid the ground and pound but Tottori connects with a decent elbow.

Tottori is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ishikawa has escaped the position, nice work there.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Ishikawa wants to get back to his feet but Tottori drags him back down.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tottori takes a little break here. Ishikawa wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Ishikawa is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Tottori has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Tottori has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Tottori is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ishikawa is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Ishikawa is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Tottori is controlling him well.
Tottori wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ishikawa keeps working.
Tottori tries to move into full mount but can't pass Ishikawa's legs.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tottori in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Ishikawa stops Tottori from passing to mount.
Tottori works to advance to full mount. Ishikawa defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Ishikawa is trying to stand up.
Ishikawa taking shots to the head.
Ishikawa wants to try and get back to his feet.
Tottori wants to take Ishikawa's back here but Ishikawa is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Tottori trying to control but Ishikawa is having none of it.
Tottori won't let Ishikawa get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Tottori lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Tottori lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Ishikawa is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Tottori swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
