PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jarek Exo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Purist Thunderwrath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Purist Thunderwrath was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jarek Exo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Purist Thunderwrath!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Daniel Bishop and Chris Edwards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thunderwrath on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Exo. Exo obviously looking to wear him down.
Thunderwrath moves in looking to clinch but Exo pushes him off.
Thunderwrath tries for a takedown but Exo sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Thunderwrath wants to slow Exo down by chopping away at his legs.
Exo closes the distance but Thunderwrath moves to the side

and Thunderwrath counters by moving into the clinch.
Thunderwrath taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Exo tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Thunderwrath avoids it.
Thunderwrath tries to circle away but Exo has him pinned against the ropes.
Exo gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Thunderwrath.
Exo blocks an elbow strike from Thunderwrath.
Exo scores a nice knee to the body.
Exo jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Thunderwrath walks away with a smile on his face. Exo gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Exo lands a left and a right that send Thunderwrath crashing to the mat, dazed. Exo thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Purist Thunderwrath has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Exo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Thunderwrath is rocked!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Thunderwrath manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Thunderwrath tries to roll over but Exo keeps him under control.
Exo trying to control the action but Thunderwrath is working from the bottom.
Exo is looking to pass Thunderwrath's guard but actually Thunderwrath recovers to full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Exo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Thunderwrath looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Thunderwrath looks gassed!
Thunderwrath manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Thunderwrath gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Exo misses with a takedown attempt

and Thunderwrath counters with a single leg into guard. Exo didn't expect that.
Thunderwrath is looking to work some ground and pound but Exo has wrist control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Thunderwrath with a flurry of punches that miss.
Exo is trying to keep Thunderwrath in close.
Thunderwrath stops Exo from standing up.
Thunderwrath postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Thunderwrath trying to control but Exo is working from the bottom.
Exo wants to get back to his feet but Thunderwrath passes into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Exo is trying to get back to full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Thunderwrath tries for a takedown but Exo circles away easily
and Exo counters with a left and a right that stings Thunderwrath.
Jarek Exo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Purist Thunderwrath.
Thunderwrath fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Exo avoids it really well and circles away.

Thunderwrath gets caught flat footed, as Exo shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Exo wants to control from the top but Thunderwrath keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Exo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Exo misses with a takedown attempt

and Thunderwrath decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Exo's guard.
Exo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Thunderwrath slips nicely into half guard.

Thunderwrath stands up and beckons Exo to join him on the feet.
Thunderwrath throws a head kick that misses.
Purist Thunderwrath seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Exo wants to clinch but Thunderwrath slips to the side
and Thunderwrath counters with a nice leg kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Thunderwrath has Exo up against the ropes in a clinch.

Exo has had enough of the clinch but Thunderwrath keeps him there for the moment.
Thunderwrath tries for a takedown but Exo manages to get underhooks.
Exo is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Thunderwrath wants a takedown but no success here.
Thunderwrath misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Exo.
Exo is looking to control Thunderwrath's arms but Thunderwrath gets an underhook and turns him. Now Exo has his back to the ropes.
Thunderwrath misses with an elbow strike.
Exo looking to stall.
Exo seems a little flustered. He's come in with the intention of controlling the clinch but Thunderwrath is preventing him from doing so, at least for the moment.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Jarek Exo.

Thunderwrath scores a takedown into full mount!
Thunderwrath has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Exo's face.
Thunderwrath unloading with bombs!

Thunderwrath has hold of Exo's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Exo manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Exo is trying desperately to improve position.
Thunderwrath trying to control but Exo is having none of it.
Exo tries to improve his position but instead Thunderwrath has taken his back!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Exo is really stuck here.
Thunderwrath tries to get the hooks in deep but Exo pushed the leg off.
Thunderwrath trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Exo doesn't escape.
Thunderwrath connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Exo to escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Purist Thunderwrath showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Exo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Exo misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Exo walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Thunderwrath checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Exo closes the distance but Thunderwrath moves to the side

and Thunderwrath counters with a shoot takedown. Exo fights it but they end up in guard.
Thunderwrath works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Exo is trying to control but can't.
Thunderwrath scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Exo is in trouble now - Thunderwrath has advanced to mount!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Thunderwrath tries to control but Exo wriggling away.

Thunderwrath gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Thunderwrath drives through and clinches with Exo against the ropes.
Thunderwrath goes for a takedown in the clinch but Exo prevents it.
Exo tries a body shot but Thunderwrath blocks it.

Exo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Thunderwrath moves into the clinch.

Exo tries to break the clinch but Thunderwrath is controlling the position.

Thunderwrath successfully pulls guard.
Thunderwrath is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Exo wants to control from the top but Thunderwrath keeps moving.
Exo throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Thunderwrath pulls Exo in close to prevent any damage.

Thunderwrath's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Jarek Exo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Exo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Thunderwrath, pushing him back against the ropes.

And that's the end of the fight!
Purist Thunderwrath comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Thunderwrath has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
