PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Massa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Valiant Thorr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Valiant Thorr told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Paulo Santos and Mauricio Rocha.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thorr walks forward, straight into a front kick from Massa.

Massa looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Massa wants to pass the guard but Thorr is defending well.
Massa is taking a breather. Thorr says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Massa escapes and gets back to his feet.
Thorr shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Massa as he jumps to the side.
Thorr looks gassed!
Massa throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Massa throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Thorr.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Thorr cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Carlos Massa.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Massa, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
