Maia bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Maia lands with a nice body punch.
Maia pivots, looking for a leg kick but Gentleman is out of range and Maia settles back down.
Miko Maia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Maia is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
It looks like Jack Gentleman has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Maia throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Maia shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gentleman pinned against the cage. Gentleman gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Maia throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Maia throws a hook to the side of Gentleman's head but Gentleman sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Maia thuds a left hand into Gentleman's body.
Maia fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Maia tries to clinch up but Gentleman circles away and keeps his distance.

Gentleman tries to close the distance and clinch but Maia swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A jab from Gentleman misses.
Gentleman avoids a kick to the body.
Maia circles away from the clinch attempt.
Maia misses with a hook.
Maia avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Maia lands a jab to the head.
A head kick misses from Maia.
Maia closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Maia thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Gentleman's head.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Maia has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Gentleman is trying to get back to full guard.
Maia uses his free foot to push down on Gentleman's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gentleman.
Gentleman tries to hold on but Maia pushes him away.

Gentleman takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Maia's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
