Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sal Blare (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DK Oakston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Oakston is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Beastie Boys - High Plains Drifter. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sal Blare!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, DK Oakston!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Sano and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Blare drives through with a takedown into guard.
Oakston controls Blare momentarily but Blare frees himself.
Blare wants to get up but he can't break Oakston's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Oakston keeping moving, preventing Blare from controlling successfully.
Blare is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Oakston is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Blare not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Oakston is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Oakston is looking to stand up but Blare isn't so interested in that idea.
Oakston can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Blare controls the pace.

Blare tries to lock up and control but Oakston gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Oakston cracks Blare with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Oakston has hold of Blare's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Blare manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Blare tries to hold on but Oakston pushes him away.
Blare takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Blare is trying desperately to improve position.
Blare really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Oakston jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Blare manages to avoid the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Oakston is looking to take a break and control but Blare is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Oakston scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Blare to see if he's OK.

Oakston working the strikes but Blare uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Oakston is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Oakston thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Blare is pressing down on Oakston's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Oakston prevents Blare from getting back to his feet.
Oakston must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Oakston postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Oakston is in close to Blare's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Oakston lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Blare tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Oakston stands up over Blare, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Oakston misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Oakston misses with a takedown attempt - Blare sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Oakston throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Oakston tries to bum rush Blare with a series of wild strikes but Blare uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Oakston tries to score a power double leg takedown but Blare sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Oakston somewhat.
Blare wants to clinch up but Oakston keeps it at a distance.

Blare doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Oakston counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Oakston bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Blare's head backwards.
Oakston avoids the body shot from Blare.
Oakston fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Blare fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Oakston throws a right and a left that both miss.

Oakston feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Blare pushes Oakston away with a front kick.
Oakston lands a jab to the head.
Oakston shoots in for a double leg but Blare sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Sal Blare has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of DK Oakston.

Oakston bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Blare wants to sweep here but Oakston controlling him for the moment.

DK Oakston showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Oakston looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Blare with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Oakston wants to lay and pray for a moment but Blare keeps working.
Blare wants to control but Oakston is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Blare is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.
Oakston prevents Blare from getting the reversal.
Oakston lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Oakston is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Blare is in a horrible position here. Oakston smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Oakston cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Oakston postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Blare looks a forlorn figure.

Oakston breaks from Blare's wrist control and lands an elbow.

The referee warns Blare that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Blare wants to hold on but Oakston pushes him away.

DK Oakston is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Oakston lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Blare is desperately trying to improve his position but Oakston has a good base and remains in mount.
Oakston tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Let's hope that Oakston has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

DK Oakston comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Oakston has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
