PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kenjiro Tanaka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesse Custer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tanaka comes into the arena with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7awMJwjhc4c&feature=related blaring out of the sound system. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenjiro Tanaka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jesse Custer!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Custer is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Custer takes one to the chin there.
Custer tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Custer shoots in and drives through. Tanaka sprawls well.
Custer tries to close the distance and clinch but Tanaka swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Custer looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A big left from Tanaka misses.
Tanaka throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Custer is trying hard to land a takedown here. Tanaka sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Tanaka displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Custer.
Kenjiro Tanaka has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jesse Custer.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Custer throws a shot from downtown. Tanaka moves away and avoids it.
Custer takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.


It looks like Jesse Custer has been cut.
Tanaka throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Custer is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Tanaka circles away from the clinch attempt.
A telegraphed right hand from Tanaka misses the target.
Nice takedown defense from Tanaka. No joy for Custer on that attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Tanaka leaves Custer with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Custer uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Tanaka.

Tanaka cracks Custer with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Tanaka has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Custer to stand back up!


Custer is rocked!
Tanaka ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Custer's jaw. Custer's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Tanaka does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Kenjiro Tanaka!
