Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joao Granada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jovan Belcher!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Mauricio Rocha and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Belcher looks to land a combination. Granada sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Granada has managed to clinch.

Granada turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Granada in side control lands a decent elbow.
Granada creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Granada throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Belcher can do anything to dispel that myth.
Belcher wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Belcher gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Granada throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Belcher because Granada loaded up on that one.

Granada won't let Belcher get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Granada thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Granada wants to control the pace but Belcher is squirming around nicely.

Granada moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Belcher has worked his arm free - good work by Belcher!

Granada is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Belcher is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Belcher is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Granada is controlling him well.

Granada is trying to get an arm triangle but Belcher is defending well.
Granada tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Belcher is pushing Granada's head away, looking to escape. Granada manages to hold on to the position though.
Granada working the body and head with strikes.

Granada thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Belcher pushes Granada away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Granada gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Granada tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Granada has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Granada thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Belcher is pushing Granada's head away, looking to escape. Granada manages to hold on to the position though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Granada slows the pace down.
Belcher is not content to let Granada control the position.

Granada is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Belcher is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Granada misses with the ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Belcher pushes Granada away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Granada gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Granada tries for a kimura but Belcher is defending well.
Granada throws an elbow but Belcher slips to the side and avoids it well.
Belcher pushes Granada away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Granada gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Granada is looking to take a break and control but Belcher is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Granada looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Belcher is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joao Granada dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Belcher misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Granada closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Granada breaks the clinch.
Belcher rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Granada moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Granada moves into the clinch.

Granada has Belcher pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Granada pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Belcher tumbling to the mat - Granada dives into Belcher's guard.
Granada trying to control the position from guard on top but Belcher is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Granada with a flurry of punches that miss.
Belcher can't keep his opponent in guard - Granada advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Belcher really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Granada. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Belcher wants to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Granada is looking to take a break and control but Belcher is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Belcher on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Granada thows a huge punch but Belcher dodges it nicely.
Granada wants to control but Belcher is keeping him busy.

Granada has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Belcher defend it? Granada steps over the head and cranks it - Belcher is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Granada!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Joao Granada!
