PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between RAEKWON ILLMATIC (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and dwayne wade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). ILLMATIC's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Raekwon Incarcerated Scarfaces. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as dwayne wade enters the ring!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
ILLMATIC moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
wade tries to clinch there but ILLMATIC circles away.

wade closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming ILLMATIC to the mat! ILLMATIC manages to get full guard.
ILLMATIC is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
ILLMATIC has control of wade's left arm, preventing wade from doing any damage.
wade throwing strikes from guard but ILLMATIC blocks nicely.

ILLMATIC is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now ILLMATIC is on top in guard.
ILLMATIC tries to stand but wade is controlling from the bottom.
ILLMATIC stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. wade swivels though and keeps the full guard.

ILLMATIC has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of wade is proving hard to escape from.

wade is working an open guard so ILLMATIC takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
ILLMATIC fails with an attempt to clinch.
wade swats away the attempt to clinch by ILLMATIC.
wade fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
wade looks gassed!
wade shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
ILLMATIC dodges the punch combination from wade.

ILLMATIC closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
ILLMATIC tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. wade just stands there and leans against the ropes.
ILLMATIC lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

ILLMATIC is looking to control wade's arms but wade gets an underhook and turns him. Now ILLMATIC has his back to the ropes.
wade fails to pull guard.
RAEKWON ILLMATIC has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of dwayne wade.

ILLMATIC pulls guard.

ILLMATIC escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. wade gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
wade tries to free his leg and advance position but ILLMATIC is retaining full guard.
ILLMATIC is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
ILLMATIC avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
ILLMATIC is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

ILLMATIC is working for a kimura but wade is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
ILLMATIC is trying to control the action in half guard but wade is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

ILLMATIC decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

ILLMATIC gets in close and instigates a clinch.

ILLMATIC breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from wade is defended easily by ILLMATIC.
ILLMATIC fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
wade takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
ILLMATIC tries to clinch up
and wade counters with a left and a right that stings ILLMATIC.
The fight stays on the outside here - ILLMATIC looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

ILLMATIC moves into the clinch.

ILLMATIC tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. wade just stands there and leans against the ropes.
A quick uppercut on the inside from ILLMATIC.

ILLMATIC breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
ILLMATIC lands a jab-cross combination.
ILLMATIC doesn't manage to clinch there - wade circles away.
wade falls off balance throwing a combination
enabling ILLMATIC to counter with a crisp jab.
A head kick misses from ILLMATIC.
ILLMATIC fails in his attempt to clinch.
RAEKWON ILLMATIC is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
ILLMATIC tries to clinch but wade is having none of it.
ILLMATIC really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
wade gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and ILLMATIC counters with a straight right hand.
This has been an exciting period of action!
ILLMATIC avoids a punch combination nicely.

ILLMATIC clinches with his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
ILLMATIC is trying to break free.
ILLMATIC lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the ropes.
ILLMATIC tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. wade smiles and moves away.
ILLMATIC throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

RAEKWON ILLMATIC dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

ILLMATIC digs a good hook to wade's body.
wade wants to clinch up but ILLMATIC keeps it at a distance.
A nice combination there by ILLMATIC.

It looks like dwayne wade has been cut.

ILLMATIC drives through and clinches with wade against the ropes.

ILLMATIC jumps guard.

ILLMATIC is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and wade defends well.
ILLMATIC is adopting a defensive guard.

ILLMATIC has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but wade can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
wade in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

ILLMATIC has his foot on wade's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. wade works his way back into a safe position though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

ILLMATIC working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. wade doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. wade manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

wade loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

ILLMATIC is looking to sinch up a triangle. wade throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to ILLMATIC's body to avoid the submission. ILLMATIC has instead reached around wade's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! ILLMATIC arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
