Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Turner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dave Legrand!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turner closes the distance and clinches up with Legrand, looking for a takedown. Turner pushes Legrand against the cage but Legrand circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Turner misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Turner has a takedown stuffed.
Legrand circles away from the clinch attempt.
Turner blocks the body kick.
Legrand throws a right and a left that Turner avoids nicely.
Turner tries to clinch up but Legrand circles away and keeps his distance.
Legrand misses with a series of wild punches.
Legrand chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Turner fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Turner. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Legrand throws a right and a left that both miss.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice takedown defense from Legrand. No joy for Turner on that attempt.
Legrand throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Turner looks for a takedown but Legrand sprawls well.

Turner has managed to clinch.
A right hand to the body from Turner.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Legrand escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Turner drives through with a takedown into guard.
Turner wants to stand but Legrand has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Legrand throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Legrand wants to get back to his feet but Turner passes into half guard.
Legrand trying to control but Turner postures up.
Legrand is staying active underneath Turner, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Legrand is looking to escape.
Legrand looks gassed!
Turner looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Turner wants to pass to mount but Legrand is defending the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Legrand throws a sloppy head kick and Turner moves out of range easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Turner gets a clinch.
Legrand prevents the takedown attempt.
Legrand is trying to break the clinch but Turner has him pressed against the cage.
Turner connects with a nasty looking knee right to Legrand's face.
Turner fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Turner slows down the pace here.
Legrand wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Turner stalls.
Turner tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Legrand just stands there and leans against the cage.

Legrand breaks from the clinch.
Legrand throws a head kick that misses
and Turner counters with a one-two to the body.
Legrand just misses with a punch to the body.
Horrible takedown by Turner or perhaps it was just good defense by Legrand which made him look bad.
Turner plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Turner tries to bum rush Legrand with a series of wild strikes but Legrand uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Turner fails in his attempt to clinch.
Turner doesn't manage to clinch there - Legrand circles away.
Turner lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
An inside leg kick from Legrand misses.
Turner shoots in for a double leg but Legrand sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Turner fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A head kick by Legrand misses

and Turner counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Turner.

Turner breaks from the clinch.
Turner lands a brutal head kick. Legrand looks out on his feet and Turner throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick and Punches). James Turner!
