PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dat Guy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raekwon Woods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Woods has chosen Verbal Intercourse - Raekwon as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dat Guy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Raekwon Woods!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, David Schapiro and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guy tries for a takedown but Woods sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Woods missing with a left hand there. Guy was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
The fighters circling - Woods throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Woods takes a swing at Guy's ribcage but misses.
Woods just misses with a punch to the body.
Guy shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Woods but Woods pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Guy shoots for a double leg takedown but Woods sprawls well. He's pushed Guy's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dat Guy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Guy shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Woods pinned against the cage. Woods gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Woods throws a right and a left that both miss.
Woods lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.


It looks like Dat Guy has been cut.
Woods leaves Guy with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Guy shoots in looking for a takedown. Woods tries to sprawl out of it but Guy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Woods manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Guy closes this distance looking for a takedown but Woods circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Guy shoots for a double leg takedown but Woods sprawls well. He's pushed Guy's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Woods misses with a straight right.
Guy slips under a jab from Woods.
Woods misses with a looping right.
Woods scores with a hook.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Guy shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Woods as he avoids it easily.
Guy shoots for a double leg takedown but Woods sprawls well. He's pushed Guy's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Woods should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Guy.
Guy misses with a takedown attempt - Woods sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Woods displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Guy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Guy uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Woods.
Woods misses with the combination.
Woods misses with a wild body shot.
Woods throws a hook to the side of Guy's head but Guy sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raekwon Woods dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Dat Guy's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Guy displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Woods throws out the jab.
Guy fails with a takedown attempt.
Woods lands the left hand.
Woods lands a nice hook to Guy's body. Guy takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Woods throws a looping overhand right but Guy ducks down to avoid it.
Guy keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Woods.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Guy shoots in for a takedown but Woods shows good takedown defense.
Woods stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Guy steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Woods.
Today's fight clock is brought to you by... OOOH that's a huge shot by Woods! Guy is in big trouble here - the ref steps in to save him and this one is all over!
