Obama comes to the cage accompanied by Słoń&Mikser - Początek Końca. Barack Obama has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Barack Obama!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jose Send!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Send circles away from the clinch attempt.
Obama leaves Send with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Send darts in trying to clinch

and Obama counters by clinching up.

Obama breaks the clinch.

Send fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Obama sprawls well initially but Send persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Send throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Obama is looking for a sweep. Send is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Send sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Obama defending well though.
Send is thwarting Obama's attempts to control the position.
Send is just content to waste time from the top position. Obama takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Obama keeping moving, preventing Send from controlling successfully.
Obama looking for a sweep. Not yet Obama, not yet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Send fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Send shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Obama will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Send distracts Obama with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Send stopping the sweep attempt from Obama.
Send looks gassed!
Send tries to stand but Obama is controlling from the bottom.
Obama really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Obama has control of Send's left arm, preventing Send from doing any damage.

Obama uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Jose Send seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Send tries to clinch up.

Obama has closed the distance and engaged Send in a clinch.

Obama breaks from the clinch.

Obama clinches up against the cage.
Obama tries for a takedown but Send manages to get underhooks.
Obama is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Send gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Obama escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Send tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Obama swivels and escapes.
Send avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Obama fails to land the takedown.
Send throws a series of punches but Obama avoids them all with ease.

Send decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Obama trying to hold on to Send's head to control him but Send postures up.
Obama keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Send looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Send controlling the action here.

Send not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Send is looking to advance position but Obama won't allow it.
Obama has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Send is working away from the top position though.
Obama is pressing down on Send's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Obama wants to stand and escape but Send is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jose Send dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Obama stuffs the takedown.
Send tries to clinch

and Obama counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Obama in particular looking to stall.
Obama works his way into full mount!
The referee warns Send that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Obama pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Send slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Obama prevents Send from improving his position.

Obama stands up and beckons Send to join him on the feet.
Obama shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Send but Send pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Send swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Obama holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Send is trying to force a seperation but Obama has the dominant position.

Obama escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Send closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Send clinches up with Obama and pushes him back against the cage.
Obama tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Send avoids it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Send looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Obama tries to land knees in the clinch but Send avoids the damage to the body.

Obama manages to break the clinch.
A head kick misses from Send.

Send shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Obama manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Send is looking to advance position but Obama has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Send tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Obama looking to control but Send is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Obama sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Jose Send has got the better of the ground game so far.

Send tries to reverse the position but Obama maintains control.
Send squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Send wants to hold on but Obama pushes him away.
Send keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Obama tries to control but Send wriggling away.
Send tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Obama is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Send to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Send shrugs it off.
Obama can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Send is looking to escape.
Send holds on, trying desperately to control.
Send is looking to get to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barack Obama dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Left hook, right uppercut from Send.
Send shoots in but Obama avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Obama fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Send manages to avoid it.

Obama moves into range and clinches up with Send.
Send is looking to break free of the clinch but Obama has double underhooks.
Send can't break the clinch.
Obama has Send pushed against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Obama pulls Send into guard.

Send stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Obama has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Send manages to get his head free but now Obama has transitioned to an armbar! Send grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Obama! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:01 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Barack Obama!
