Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Orlov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, William Zai!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Konstantin Menshow and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Orlov misses with a wild combination.
Zai shoots in and bounces Orlov off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Orlov throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Zai forces his way into half guard.
Orlov throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Orlov is looking to improve his position.
Orlov wants to control but Zai is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Zai really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Orlov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Zai sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Orlov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Orlov wants to improve his position but Zai is controlling well.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Orlov has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Zai is working away from the top position though.
Zai thows a huge punch but Orlov dodges it nicely.
Orlov moves into full guard.
Orlov wants to sweep but no luck.
Zai prevents Orlov from getting back to his feet.
Orlov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Zai dodges the punch combination from Orlov.
Zai tries to close the distance and clinch up but Orlov swats him away and circles back towards the center.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Orlov works over Zai's head and body with a nice combination.
Orlov blocks a head kick by Zai.
Zai looks gassed!
Orlov misses with a wild combination.
Orlov looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Orlov throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Zai.
Zai fails to land with a series of punches.
Zai tries to clinch but Orlov moves out of range.
Orlov throws a hook but Zai avoids it easily.
Zai shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Orlov trying to control from the bottom.
Orlov is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Zai is tapping! Great win for Orlov!
