Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Castle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rex Sawyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Castle comes to the cage accompanied by Mark Collie - In time. Rex Sawyer will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Castle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rex Sawyer!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Frank Castle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sawyer shoots in and bounces Castle off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Sawyer decides to stand up, so the ref orders Castle to his feet.

Sawyer throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Castle was covering up waiting for the punch and Sawyer finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Sawyer must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Sawyer has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Castle off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Sawyer closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Castle to the mat! Castle manages to get full guard.

Sawyer has closed the distance and engaged Castle in a clinch.

Sawyer ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Sawyer no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Sawyer lands a decent punch to the body there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sawyer tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Castle drops back, looking for a kneebar! Sawyer looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Sawyer looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Sawyer!
Castle is trying to improve his position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Sawyer has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Castle has his foot on Sawyer's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sawyer works his way back into a safe position though.

and Sawyer decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Castle's guard.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Sawyer. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Castle is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sawyer defends well.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Sawyer changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Castle looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The referee asks Sawyer politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Sawyer prefers to stall for the moment though.

Well Sawyer has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
