Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, KJ Noons!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, BJ Penn!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Penn.

Penn shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Penn tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Noons.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Penn prevents Noons from improving his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Penn thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Noons's head.
Noons is trying to get back to full guard.
Penn thows a huge punch but Noons dodges it nicely.
Penn has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Noons is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Penn pulls his head out easily.
Penn thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Noons is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Noons stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Noons wants it to stay on the feet.
Noons fails with a takedown attempt.
Penn keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Noons takes the fight into the clinch.

Noons manages to break the clinch.
Penn misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
KJ Noons has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of BJ Penn.
Penn shoots in but no luck this time.
Penn avoids a punch combination nicely.
Noons leaves Penn with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Noons counters by moving into the clinch.
Penn looks gassed!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Penn jumps guard but Noons stands there with Penn around his waist. Penn gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Noons has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Penn regains guard immediately.

Noons is sitting in close to Penn's body. Penn has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Noons is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Noons is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Penn.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). BJ Penn!
