PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sensei Raki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Geoff Bummer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Geoff Bummer was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sensei Raki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Geoff Bummer!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Wagner Zegers and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bummer tries to score a power double leg takedown but Raki sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bummer somewhat.
Raki with a poor takedown

so Bummer counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Raki wants to get back to his feet but Bummer is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Raki trying to keep a closed guard but Bummer is proving a slippery customer.
Bummer trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Raki is looking for a triangle but Bummer pushes his legs off easily.
Raki is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Bummer throwing strikes from guard but Raki blocks nicely.

Bummer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Raki. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bummer throws a big right hand that misses.
Bummer wanted to stand there but Raki had control of the position.
Raki keeping moving, preventing Bummer from controlling successfully.
Raki tries to land a sweep but no joy.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bummer accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Bummer scores with a takedown into Raki's guard.

Bummer got a little sloppy there for a moment and Raki has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bummer has managed to get both his arms back between Raki's legs - danger averted.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bummer is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Raki lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Bummer!
Raki trying to control but Bummer is having none of it.
Raki won't let Bummer get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Bummer is in all sorts of trouble here.

Raki goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Bummer turns into him and now he's in Raki's guard.
Bummer is looking to stand up but Raki won't let him.

Raki looking for subs off his back but Bummer has passed one foot through into half guard.
Bummer wants to pass to mount but Raki is defending the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Raki is not content to let Bummer control the position.
Bummer tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Raki.
Raki has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bummer is working away from the top position though.
Raki wants to get back to full guard.
Raki wants to control but Bummer is keeping busy and won't allow it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Bummer shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Geoff Bummer dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Bummer shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Raki is trying to defend but Bummer finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Still in half guard, Bummer seems content to control.

Raki is trying to control but can't.
Bummer is taking a breather. Raki says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Raki is looking to control Bummer's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Raki avoid being mounted?

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Bummer throws a series of punches but Raki avoids them all with ease.
Bummer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Raki with a poor takedown

and Bummer counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Bummer.
Raki tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Raki escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bummer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bummer drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Raki dives on top into guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bummer keeping moving, preventing Raki from controlling successfully.

Raki drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Raki jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Raki passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Raki tries for a kimura but Bummer is defending well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bummer is not content to let Raki control the position.
Raki avoids the strikes from the bottom by Bummer.
Bummer is trying to buck Raki off.
Bummer is trying to get back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bummer can't do much from the bottom here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Geoff Bummer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Raki has his takedown stuffed

and Bummer counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Bummer wants to control but Raki is keeping him busy.
Raki moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Bummer won't allow Raki to sweep him here.

Raki looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Bummer is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Raki is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Raki looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Bummer tries to roll over but Raki keeps him under control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Bummer tries to get to full guard but Raki has control of the leg.

Bummer tries to roll over but Raki keeps him under control.

Raki wants to control but Bummer is keeping him busy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Bummer counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Raki tries to score a body lock takedown but Bummer shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sensei Raki. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Raki has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Bummer is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

A bit of stalling here from Bummer.

Bummer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Raki counters with a shoot takedown. Bummer fights it but they end up in guard.
Raki seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Raki drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bummer manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Raki has Bummer in his guard.
Bummer with a flurry of punches that miss.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Geoff Bummer.
I've got Bummer winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
