Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Adam Monroe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Pollard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adam Monroe has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Adam Monroe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Thomas Pollard!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, David Schapiro and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pollard tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Pollard wants to clinch up but Monroe keeps it at a distance.
Pollard bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Monroe has a takedown stuffed.
Pollard circles away from the clinch attempt.

Monroe shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Monroe throwing shots but Pollard is blocking nicely.
Monroe tries to pass to full mount but Pollard defends it.
Pollard desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Monroe wants to pass the guard but Pollard is defending well.

Pollard avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Monroe.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Monroe seems to be working for a kimura but Pollard defends the submission attempt.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Monroe is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Monroe is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Pollard sees it coming and defends easily.

Pollard is controlling Monroe's posture.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pollard is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That was a close round but I would say that Adam Monroe will probably get the nod.

Monroe moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Pollard has worked his arm free - good work by Pollard!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Monroe throwing strikes but Pollard manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Pollard is looking to take a break and control but Monroe is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Pollard decides to take the fight back to the feet.
A head kick misses from Pollard.
Pollard shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Monroe throws a low kick but it's checked well by Pollard.

Monroe feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Monroe loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Monroe stands and steps away. Pollard gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

and Pollard counters with a thumping low kick.
Monroe tries to clinch there but Pollard circles away.

Pollard shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Monroe's guard.

Monroe escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pollard gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Monroe has a closed guard, preventing Pollard from standing up.
Monroe looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pollard is one step ahead there.
Monroe preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Monroe throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Adam Monroe overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Monroe is looking for a triangle but Pollard pushes his legs off easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Monroe has Pollard pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Pollard manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

It looks like Pollard is going to stand back up.
Monroe is looking for a sweep. Pollard is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Monroe flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Monroe creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Pollard sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Monroe accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Monroe slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Pollard stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Monroe closes this distance looking for a takedown but Pollard circles away.

Monroe looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Pollard!
Monroe throwing strikes here but Pollard is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Monroe, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
