The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Escobedo tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Montana was well out of range. Poor timing from Escobedo.

Montana is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Escobedo's half guard.

Montana shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Escobedo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

and Montana counters with a takedown into side control.
Montana wants to stand but Escobedo is controlling his arm.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Montana tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Montana has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Montana wants to control but Escobedo is keeping him busy.
Escobedo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Montana. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

That was a close round but I would say that Toni Montana will probably get the nod.

Escobedo feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Montana sprawling to the canvas! Montana rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Escobedo finish him?!

Escobedo swings for the body but Montana moves out of range.
Montana shoots in for a double leg but Escobedo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
The fighters circling - Escobedo throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Montana shoots in but no luck this time.
Montana has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Montana there as he acknowledges the shot.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Escobedo is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Montana.
Montana seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Escobedo shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Montana is backing up but Escobedo catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Montana covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Escobedo Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
