The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Man has closed the distance and engaged Smickers in a clinch.
Smickers changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Man fights it off and pushes away nicely.
A combination from Man does no damage.

Man drives through and clinches with Smickers against the ropes.

Man manages to break the clinch.
Smickers throws a right and a left that Man avoids nicely.
Smickers misses with a series of wild punches.
Smickers swinging wildly here.
Man takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Smickers throws a combination. Man tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Man blocks the body kick.
Smickers lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Smickers.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Man.

Man tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Smickers struggling a bit here.
Man working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Man in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Man wants to lay and pray for a moment but Smickers keeps working.
Man prevents Smickers from escaping the position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Man circles away from the clinch attempt.
A left and a right from Man both land. Nice combination.
No joy there for Smickers, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Man lands a huge takedown. Smickers is out but the ref is slow to react and Man lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Smickers lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.
