PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Baker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ted Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Baker kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is The Duck Song. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ted Jones!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Baker fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jones sprawls well initially but Baker persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Baker slows the pace down in half guard.
Jones wants to get back to full guard.
Jones wants to get back to full guard but Baker has passed into side control.

Jones trying to hold on to Baker's head to control him but Baker postures up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Baker seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jones for as long as he can get away with.

and Baker decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jones's guard.

Jones is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Baker knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Jones throws an elbow but Baker slips to the side and avoids it well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Baker tightens his grip and picks Jones up, before dumping him to the ground. Jones manages to land in guard.
Baker wants to pass the guard but Jones is keeping the position.

Jones manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Baker manages to get himself to full guard.
Baker controls Jones momentarily but Jones frees himself.
Jones is looking to work some ground and pound but Baker has wrist control.

Baker has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jones can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Baker here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
